Infrastructure Rehabilitation with Polyurethane

Polyurethane injection is a fast and effective way to repair sinking roadways, culverts, manholes, utility vaults, and waterways. In one application, our polyurethane solution simultaneously fills voids, densifies soils, and seals any leaking joints and cracks in pipes.

How Polyurethane Works for Waterway Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Once injected, the polyurethane aggressively seeks out voids, like how water seeks the path of least resistance. After a few short minutes, the polymer reacts and begins to expand throughout the voids and the weak points in the soil. The polyurethane then begins to use expansive pressure to find the joint separations or cracks.

Injections are made through 5/8′ holes that are drilled through the pipe or from the surface.

Polyurethane begins to expand, packing the voids and weak soils

Once injected, the polyurethane travels throughout the voids and expands up to 25 times its original volume through the soil.

Once the void is filled, polyurethane packs and seals the joints

After filling voids, the polyurethane continues to expand, packing and sealing the joints. The polyurethane cures to 95% capacity within 25 minutes.

Our polymer injection application is a no excavation rocking slab stabilization solution, allowing for minimal impact to your structure. Our project footprint is minimal, requiring a small trailer, a hose running from the trailer, and small 5/8″ holes that are drilled through the structure to give us access to drive our rods to target locations and inject our high-density polyurethane.

We use polyurethanes that are light-weight, reducing added weight to the area. This is a major advantage because often times treatment is required because a structure’s weight is too much for the geology of the area.

Our polymers set up to 95% capacity within 15 minutes, unlike other solutions which require 24-48 hours and ideal soil conditions. After 15 minutes, the material can be driven on and take on heavy loads

Our polymers are environmentally inert and have no impact to the environment or groundwater.
